Webinar Introduces the VWS Program Application Process

To inform volunteer fire departments of the unique recruitment and retention program

headed to the state of North Carolina, the North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs

(NCAFC) and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) will be hosting a webinar.

It will detail the application process for interested departments. All volunteer departments

in North Carolina are encouraged to participate.

The NCAFC and IAFC are in the second phase of their Volunteer Workforce Solutions (VWS)

program, which works with national, state and local organizations to support initiatives

focused on the recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters. Phase II is funded

through a FEMA SAFER grant with a two-year period of performance.

In Phase II, the program will select 15 departments to take advantage of research related

to their own jurisdictions and leveraging turnkey marketing solutions for enhancing their

volunteer recruitment strategies and efforts. This will also include recruitment, retention, and

leadership support. In addition, a statewide media campaign and training will be available to all

departments in North Carolina. The program’s application period will be open March 16–April 17.

When: Thursday, April 2, 7 PM
